Learning to Understand God

1st John 1: 5
This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

Anything that is hidden in darkness is manifested or made visible by the light. Sin is referred to as darkness. We don’t realize that we are in darkness until we are introduced to the light of God, through His Son Jesus Christ.

Once we accept Jesus Christ into our heart as our personal Lord and Saviour, we begin to move further and further away from the darkness of sin and more and more into the light of God, through daily study of His word.

2nd Timothy 2: 15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

This daily studying of the word renews our mind and transforms us from a life of darkness in sin into a life of light in God.

Romans 12: 2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Observation

Whatever you become accustomed to becomes a normal part of your life. We are accustomed to spiritual darkness because we were born in sin, but we do not have to stay in darkness – we can come out of the darkness into God’s marvellous light, through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ.

A Prayer to Receive Salvation

Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died for my sins. I ask Your forgiveness of my sins and accept Your Son into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that You raised Him from the dead and because of this; I know that I can live a victorious new life in Christ. Thank You for my salvation.

Now complete the process of salvation by being baptized.

Acts 2: 38
..Repent and be baptized … in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins….
