1st John 1: 9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

There is no perfect human being on this earth. We all fall short of God’s will or His expectation of us from time to time. The thing that we have to be careful of is not to stay down when we fall because when we sin, we have Jesus Christ, the One who died for our sins, who goes to God and speaks to Him on our behalf.

1st John 2: 1
My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not.
And if any man sin we have an advocate (someone speaking on our behalf) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Confession of sin results in forgiveness of sin.

Psalm 32: 5 (David is speaking)
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.

The key to forgiveness of sin is to acknowledge your sin to God and receive His forgiveness.

Observation

Have you ever done something wrong to someone else? Most of us have and what a terrible experience! Every time we thought about the person we felt bad. We worried about what we did and we wondered if the situation would ever get corrected. In other words, we were in bondage because of guilt and we had no peace of mind. It was only after we went to the person, confessed our wrong and received their forgiveness, that the weight of carrying the guilt of the wrong we and we were freed from that bondage of guilt.

Are you carrying the weight of unconfessed sin to God? If you are, confess them to Him, receive His forgiveness and allow Him to release you from the bondage of guilt that you are in. Remember that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
