1st John 2: 3
And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
A lot of people
ask the question, “How do I know that I am saved?
The answer is
simple. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal
Saviour and you are keeping His commandments by living according to His word,
then you are saved.
What
are the commandments of God?
Matthew 23:
37-39
Jesus said unto
him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind.
(verse 37)
This is the
first and great commandment
(verse 38)
And the second
one is like unto this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
When you love
the Lord with all you heart, mind and soul, you are going to live your life as
He has outlined in His word. You can only know what is in His word by carefully
studying His word each day.
2nd
Timothy 2: 15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Loving
Your Neighbour
When you love
your neighbour as your self, you will treat your neighbour the way you treat
yourself or the way you would like to be treated.
Imagine what
would happen if we all treated people the way we would like to be treated. The
world would be a much better place.
Keeping
the commandments of God
1st
John 2: 4
He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments is a liar, and the
truth is not in him.
Here is the
definition of a true liar: one who says they know the Lord but do not keep His
commandments.
The only way
that you can keep the commandments of God is to know them and the only way that
you can know them is by carefully studying the word of God.
Observation
So many people claim to love the Lord, yet they spend so little time getting to know Him through His word. This results in a breakdown in Christian relationships. Why? Where there is no unity through careful study of the word of God, there is no unity at all.
A
Prayer to Receive Salvation
Dear God, I
confess that I am a sinner. I believe that your Son Jesus Christ died for my
sins. I ask your forgiveness of my sins and accept your Son into my life as my
personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that you raised Him from the dead and
because of this; I know that I can live a victorious new life in Christ. Thank
You for my salvation. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Now complete
the process of salvation by being baptized.
Acts
2: 38
..Repent and be baptized … in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins….
