Learning to Understand God

1st John 3: 16
Hereby perceive we the love of God because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

We understand God’s love for us by what He did for us. He expressed His love by giving up His life for us and we should have the same attitude of love towards our fellow man.

1st John 3: 17
But whoso hath this world’s good and seeth his brother have need and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in Him?

It is impossible for the love of God to be a part of a person’s life if that person recognizes a need in someone else life; has the ability to fulfill that need but chooses to ignore that need.

1st John 3: 18
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

If you love someone, don’t just tell them you love them, show them you truly care by being there for them and if you are able, fulfilling the need that they have.

Observation

Talk is cheap. If God had told us He loved us but didn’t show that love for us by sacrificing His Son, we wouldn’t accept His talk of love. In the same way, if you are saying that you love your brethren or your fellow man, let it not be just talk. Express that love by doing something good for someone each day - especially when they have a need.

A Prayer to Receive Salvation

Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son Jesus Christ died for my sins. I ask Your forgiveness of my sins and accept Your Son into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that You raised Him from the dead and because of this, I know that I can live a victorious new life in Christ. Thank You for my salvation.

Now complete the process of salvation by being baptized.

Acts 2: 38
...
Repent and be baptized … in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins….
