Chapter 8
The
Seventh Seal
-
Breaking
of the seventh seal
-
Silence
in heaven
for about half an hour
-
Seven
angels who stand before
God are given seven trumpets
THE
FIRST FOUR TRUMPETS
1st
Trumpet (8:7)
Hail
and fire mixed with blood were
thrown to the earth and a third of the earth,
trees and all the green grass
was burned up.
2nd
Trumpet (8:8-9)
Something
like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown
into the sea and one third of the sea became
blood, one third of the creatures
which were in
the sea and had life, died and a one third of the
ships were destroyed.
Similar
to the first plague of
Ex. 6:20-21
3rd
Trumpet (8:10-11)
A
great star fell from heaven burning like a torch,
on a 1/3 of the rivers and springs of waters. The
star was called wormwood and a 1/3 of the waters
became wormwood and many men died from the waters
because they were bitter.
4th
Trumpet (8:12-13)
One
third
of the sun, moon and stars were smitten with
darkness so that
they would not shine for a one
third
of the day or night. Eagle
flying in mid-air saying woe, woe, woe to
those
left on earth for the remaining trumpet
blasts.
Similar
to the eighth plague of
Ex. 10: 12-15

Points To Ponder
With the
sounding of the first four trumpets, a third of the natural
elements were affected - the trees and the grass which provides people
and animals with food and good air to breathe; the sea which gives us
food directly and provides a means for ships to travel and transport
food and other goods for our survival and the rivers and fountains
of waters that provide us with good clean water to drink. The sun, moon
and stars also did not shine for a third of their time, causing
serious imbalance in the natural order of things.

Even though only
one third of all of the natural elements are affected, the results of
these imbalances will be felt worldwide because even though nations may
be independent politically, they depend on each other globally.

Unless otherwise indicated, all scripture references are from the NASB version of the Bible.

Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away;
behold all things are become new.

A
Great Star
Fell From Heaven
-
Refers to Satan
How
have you fallen from heaven O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You
have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations.
(Is. 14:12)
And He (Jesus) said to them (His disciples), “I was watching Satan
fall from heaven like lightning”
(Luke
10: 18)
