Revelation Chapter 11
The Measuring Rod
-
John was to measure the temple of God, the altar
and those who
worship in it.
-
He was not to measure the court
that was outside the temple because it was for the nations (non Jews)
and they would tread (trample) the holy city under foot for
forty-two
months (3 ˝ years) Jerusalem trampled underfoot for 3 ˝ years
Jerusalem will be trampled
underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (Luke
21:24)
Times of the Gentiles
…a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the
fullness of the Gentiles has come in. (Romans 11:25)
The
Two Witnesses
(vv3-13)
-
The two witnesses shall prophesy
for twelve hundred and sixty (1260) days (3 ˝ years), clothed in
sackcloth.
-
The two witnesses are the two olive trees
and the two lamp stands before the Lord on the earth. If anyone wants to
harm them, fire comes out
of their mouth and devours them.
-
The two olive trees are the two anointed
ones, who are standing by the Lord of the whole earth.
(Zech.
4: 11,14)
-
Lamp stands - refer to the church
Fire refers - to the word of God
Fire
comes out of their mouth and devours them.
…Behold,
I am making My words in
your mouth fire and this people wood,
and it will consume them
(Jeremiah 5:14b)
-
These two anointed ones (prophets) have the
power to cause it not to rain during the days of their prophesying.
-
They also have power to turn the waters into blood
and to smite
the earth with every plague, as often as they want to.
-
When they have finished their testimony, the false
prophet will have them killed.
-
All the people will look at their dead bodies lying
in the street
for three and a half (3 ˝) days and will not allow their
bodies to be buried.
-
They will have parties and send gifts
to one another because as far as they are concerned these two prophets
tormented them with their prophesying.
-
After 3 ˝ days, God brings them back to life and
everyone who witnessed their death and saw their dead bodies lying in the
street for 3 ˝ days are terrified.
-
The two prophets hear a voice from heaven telling
them to “come up here” and their
enemies watch them as they go up to heaven
in a cloud.
-
In the same hour that the two prophets went to
heaven, there was a great earthquake, a tenth
of the city fell and seven
thousand people were killed in
the earthquake.
-
The rest of the people were terrified and gave glory
to the God of heaven.

WITNESSES (PROPHETS) ARE NOT IDENTIFIED

THE SEVENTH TRUMPET
THIRD WOE (15-19)
The
Wrath of God
- Loud voices in heaven saying the Kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.
- Twenty-four elders fall on their
face and worship God saying “we
give thanks O Lord The Almighty, Who
art and Who wast because Thou
hast taken Thy great power and hast
begun to reign.
- The nations were enraged.
- The wrath of God came and the
time came for the dead to be judged,
and for the prophets of God and the
saints and those who fear the name
of God, the small and the great to receive their reward.
- It was also time to destroy those
who destroy the earth.
Judgment of the
dead.
Dan. 7:9-10 (KJV)
…The Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was
white as snow, and the hair of His head like the pure wool; His throne
was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as
burning fire. A fiery stream
issued and came forth from before Him: thousand thousands ministered
unto Him, and ten thousand
times ten thousand stood before Him: the
judgment was set, and the books were
opened.
REWARD FOR THE
SAINTS
(YES!)
The time came for the servants of God –
the prophets – and for the saints and
those who fear His name to receive
their reward. And the temple of God which is
in heaven was opened; and
the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and
there were flashes
of lightning and
sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a
great hailstorm.
