CHAPTER 13

Part Two

THE ANTICHRIST AND
THE FALSE PROPHET

10) If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

Woe to you, O destroyer, while you were not destroyed; and he who is treacherous, while others did not deal treacherously with him. As soon as you are finished destroying, you shall be destroyed; as soon as you shall cease to deal treacherously, others shall deal treacherously with you (Is. 33:1)

And it shall be when they say to you, “Where should we go? Then you are to say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord: those destined for death, to death, and those destined for the sword, to the sword, and those destined for famine, to famine and those destined for captivity to captivity.
(Jeremiah. 15:2)

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in Tahpahnes, saying, “Take some large stones in your hands and hide them in the mortar in the brick terrace which is at the entrance of Pharaoh’s palace in Tahpahnes, in the sight of some of the Jews; and say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, behold I am going to send and get Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and I am going to set his throne right over these stones that I have hidden and he will spread his canopy over them. He will also come and strike the land of Egypt; those who are meant for death will be given over to death, and those for captivity to captivity, and those for the sword to the word. (Jeremiah 43: 8-11)

11) And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.

THIS SECOND BEAST IS THE FALSE PROPHET

12) And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

The false prophet has the same power of the Antichrist when he is in the presence of the Antichrist. He causes everyone on the earth to worship the Antichrist.

13) And he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.

The false prophet performs great signs. He even makes fire come down out of heaven in the presence of the people.

Points to Ponder

There is one true Christ. He is Jesus Christ who sacrificed His life for your salvation.

There is a False Christ who wants to deprive you of this wonderful gift of salvation that Jesus Christ is offering to you today.

Which Christ will you follow?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;

14) And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life.

The false prophet deceives the people by the signs that he is able to perform in the presence of the Antichrist. He encourages the people to build a statue of the Antichrist.

15) And there was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast might even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

The false prophet had the power to give life to the image of the Antichrist so that the image of the Antichrist would be able to speak and cause anyone who doesn’t worship the image of the Antichrist to be killed.

THE ANTICHRIST

16) And he cause all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark in their right hand, or in their forehead

17) And he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

The Antichrist causes everyone to be given a mark in their right hand or in their forehead. (Notice that the mark will be in the hand or in the forehead and not on the hand or on the forehead. (These marks will not be visible to the naked eye)

Anyone without the mark will not be able to buy or sell anything. The mark can be either the name of the Antichrist or the number of the name of the Antichrist.

18) Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six. (666)

The number of the antichrist is six hundred and sixty-six.
