On Many Waters
Great harlot refers to a religious government
Babylon is the ruling religious power
Many waters refer to many nations of people
The waters which you saw
where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and
tongues
Rev. 17:15
The Kings Of The Earth Committed Acts Of Immorality With Her
Kings of the earth refer to political leaders
Acts of immorality refer to spiritual immorality
With her refers to the ruling religious power
Those Who Dwell On The
Earth
Were Drunk With The Wine
Of Her Immorality
The negative effects of the spiritual immorality encouraged by
the ruling religious government were experienced by the entire
world.
THE WOMAN ON THE SCARLET BEAST
3) I (John) saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full
of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns
Woman refers to a religious government
(influence) beast refers to the religious leader of this religious
government blasphemous names – disrespecting the authority of God
ten horns – ten kings.
4) The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet and
adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand
a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her
immorality
This religious government is extremely wealthy
and also entices or encourages spiritual and sexual immorality
5) and upon her forehead a name
was written, a mystery, “ Babylon The Great, the Mother of Harlots
and of the abominations of the earth.
This religious government is open in its
blasphemy of God and in its efforts to encourage all the people of
the earth to turn from the laws of God and follow after the laws
that they have established.
